"one who revises, corrects, or arranges the contents and style of the literary, artistic, or musical work of others for publication or presentation; one who alters or revises another's work to make it conform to some standard or serve a particular purpose."Everyone needs editorial services. Even the best typist will make the occasional mistake. Grammar and spelling should be professional. Cats’ Meow Services can handle it all. I have been doing editorial services since 1982 when I joined the staff of my college newspaper. Since then, I have had articles published, written a number of short stories, edited a manuscript later published privately, and am currently editing a non-fiction manuscript and writing two pieces of fiction. In 1995, I was elected to the position of President of the NEPA Writers’ Association. Part of the Associations' guidelines is to assist the writer by editing and critiquing their members’ works. I am conversant with the Chicago Manual of Style, the APA Manual of Style, and the SBL Manual of Style. Cats’ Meow Services offers five types of editorial services: |
||
| Service | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Typing and Transcription | You do the writing; I'll do the typing. | |
| Substantive Editing | Reorganizing, rewriting, and writing transitions and summaries. | |
| Copyediting | Reviewing a "finished" manuscript (copy) for spelling, grammar, consistency, and format; check the completeness, accuracy, and format of tables, bibliographies, references, and footnotes; review the content for logic; eliminate wordiness. Copyediting does not include rewriting or reorganization. | |
| Proofreading | Checking the final keyboarded version, or proof, against the manuscript version for typographical errors and deviations due to typesetting or word processing instructions. | |
| Electronic Manuscript Preparation | Preparation and submission of a manuscript to a publisher on disk or tape that can be used for setting type without re-keyboarding. | |
| Estimates For Large Projects Are Available. | ||
